Katie Kerins Named ckSmithSuperior Crusader of the Week
WORCESTER, Mass. – Sophomore outside hitter Katie Kerins has been named the ckSmithSuperior Crusader of the Week, for competition from September 3-9. Kerins led the Holy Cross volleyball team to a 1-2 record in three matches at the Blackbird Invitational last weekend.
During Friday’s 3-1 loss to LIU Brooklyn, Kerins totaled 15 kills, four digs and two blocks. She then recorded eight kills, four digs, four blocks and two aces in Friday’s 3-0 victory over George Washington, before closing out the week with 11 kills, seven digs and two aces in Saturday’s 3-0 loss to South Florida. At the end of the weekend, Kerins was selected to the Blackbird Invitational all-tournament team.
On the season, Kerins leads the team with 81 kills, 46 digs, 18 blocks and six aces. Over the course of her collegiate career, she has now totaled 375 kills, 226 digs, 63 blocks and 25 aces.
The Crusaders (1-9 overall) return to action on Friday, Sept. 14, when they travel to Connecticut for a 12:30 p.m. match to open the Dog Pound Challenge.
