Box Score

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross field hockey team defeated La Salle, 5-4, in overtime Sunday afternoon. Senior Emily Loprete  beat the goalkeeper for the second time on the day in the fifth minute of the extra period to give the Crusaders their third win in a row.

La Salle struck first scoring in the seventh minute to take the 1-0 lead, but from there, the Crusaders built a 3-1 first half lead on the back of goals by Minke Koomen, Loprete, and Olivia Venezia.

La Salle would battle back in the second half, scoring three to start the period. But Holy Cross would answer with a goal by Keely Smith to knot it up at 4. The two sides would go into overtime and that’s when Loprete would score the game-winner to continue the Crusaders’ strong play as of late.

Holy Cross will return to conference action next Saturday when it takes on Lafayette.
