Jackie Brewster Named Crusader of the Year
WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior outfielder Jackie Brewster, a member of the Holy Cross softball team, has been selected as the 2018-2019 Crusader of the Year. The most prestigious student-athlete award presented by the Holy Cross Varsity Club, the Crusader of the Year goes to a senior who has excelled not only in varsity athletics, but also in the classroom and the community, and has been prominent in campus activities.
A four-year starter in the outfield, Brewster is currently leads the team this season in runs scored (19) and triples (four), while standing second in doubles (seven) and third in hits (30). Over the course of her collegiate career, she has played in 162 games, batting .295 with 151 hits, 89 runs scored, 32 doubles and 38 runs batted in. As a junior, Brewster earned first team All-Patriot League honors.
The president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Brewster serves as the head communion minister with the Holy Cross Chaplain’s Office. She has also been a volunteer with Girls, Inc. and at the Crusaders Against Cancer 5K.
Brewster has also been successful in the classroom, earning Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors in 2018. A three-time selection to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and a member of the Alpha Sigma Nu Honor Society, she owns a 3.95 cumulative grade point average with a major in accounting.
Brewster will be presented with the Crusader of the Year award at the 64th annual Holy Cross Varsity Club Hall of Fame Dinner & Ceremonial Banquet, to be held on Saturday, May 4, in the Hogan Campus Center.
