Crusaders Place Seventh at Patriot League Championship
HAMILTON, N.Y. – Senior Joe Egan finished in a tie for ninth place as an individual to lead the Holy Cross men’s golf team to a seventh-place finish in the Patriot League Championship at the Seven Oaks Golf Club. Egan totaled a 220 over three rounds to finish at four-over par.
Egan shot a two-under par 70 in Sunday’s final round, tying for the third best score of the tournament. He also totaled nine birdies on the weekend, to tie for the fifth most of any player.
Senior Jake Peer tied for 20th place overall with a 223, while sophomore Harrison Thayer tied for 22nd with a 224. Freshman John Bowen finished in a tie for 33rd with a 228, freshman Collin Fitzpatrick tied for 41st with a 232 and sophomore Connor Phillips tied for 47th with a 237.
Army West Point won the team title with a three-round total of 865, w¬¬hile Holy Cross totaled 894. Will Halamandaris of Lafayette won in a playoff to earn individual medalist honors, after finishing tied for first at two-under par (214).
The 2018-2019 season is now complete for the Crusaders.
BEYOND THE RESULTS:
• By virtue of his ninth place finish, Egan earned second team All-Patriot League honors.
• Egan becomes Holy Cross’ first All-Patriot League selection since Steve Zychowski in 2011.
