Men's Lacrosse Readies for 2018 Season

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross men’s lacrosse team will open the 2018 season at Providence on Feb. 10 at 1:00 p.m. at Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium. "We are excited to officially begin the 2018 season at Providence this Saturday," said head coah Judd Lattimore. "The Patriot League is always competitive, and we have a strong group of non-conference opponents this year as well with Harvard, Brown, Vermont, Providence and Quinnipiac."

Quick Sticks
• The Crusaders open the 2018 season against Providence, and have faced the Friars in their last two seasons (2017and 2016).
• Holy Cross is coming off of one of their best seasons in program history, with a run to the Patriot League semifinals.
• The Crusaders defeated the Midshipmen, 11-7, in the Quarterfinals to claim the program’s first ever Patriot League tournament win.
• In the 2017 season, Holy Cross’ four Patriot League wins set a program record for most regular season league wins.
• Senior returner, Henry Lilly was named to the 2017 Academic All-Patriot League team.
• With an average of 8.73 caused turnovers per game, the Crusaders finished the season ranked 10th in the nation and second in the Patriot League.

Logan LeBlond is the Crusaders' top returning scorer. In his junior season, LeBlond scored six goals and added five assists for 11 points.
• In his rookie season, Sean Mullaney scored seven goals and added three assists in 15 games played.
• Having played in all 15 games, Jonathan Tesoro returns in goal for the Crusaders. The sophomore goalie posted a .451 save percentage and 10.77 goals against average in his debut season.
• Sophomore faceoff specialist Mike Martens returns after ranking second on the team in ground balls (54) and came away with 115 face off wins in 2017.
• Defensively, Holy Cross returns ground ball leader junior Matt Farrell with 63 in his sophomore season. Farrell also led with 21 caused turnovers.

• Head Coach Judd Lattimore added 14 to the 2017-18 roster.
• On attack, Rowan Hart and Gavin McNamara join the squad.
• In the midfield, Lattimore added Brad Baker, Jack Cahill, Dominic Dimitroff, and Dan O’Connell.
Matthew Brush, Tom Cremins, Leif Johnson, and Philip Turner join the defensive core as Dan Locke and Cole Nagahama join as long-stick midfielders.
•At the ‘X’ Kyle Helfrich joins.
Peter Dobbs joins the goalkeeping core.

Scouting the Friars
• The Friars opened their 2018 season with an overtime loss at then-No. 20 Boston University (12-11).
• Providence was led by Sean Leahy, who scored five goals. Seven other Friars found the back of the net in the game.
• Tate Boyce played in goal for Providence and recorded six saves.
• Alex George led at the ‘X’ at .538.
