Women's Hockey Shuts Out St. Michael's, 9-0

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt.  - The Holy Cross women's hockey team downed St. Michael's, 9-0 on the road Friday night. Eight different Crusaders scored on the night and junior Kelsey Goostrey notched two goals in the first and third periods.

HC 1-0 (1st, 4:34, EV): Junior Amanda Kewer took a shot from right circle that hit the post and found the back of the net. 

HC 2-0 (1st, 14:20, EV): Senior Tori Messina  won the facaeooff and tipped back to freshman Antonia Matzka. Matzka took a shot from low inside the left circle, and Kelsey Goostrey deflected it into the net.

HC 3-0 (2nd, 00:26, EV): Junior Sam Girard shot from the circle to top left corner of the goal.

HC 4-0 (2nd, 14:46, EV): Freshman Grace Peluso brings the puck around behind the net and sends it back door to junior Maggie Hallisey, who scores.

HC 5-0 (2nd, 16:21, EV): Freshman Allison Attea shot from the right point, which beat the left shoulder of St. Michael's goalie. 

HC 6-0 (3rd, 3:02, EV): Senior Kara Violette intercepted a clear attempt and wrapped around net to find freshman Katie McCuaig in the slot who shot and scored.

HC 7-0 (3rd, 6:17, EV): Girard stepped in fron of a defenseman and shot at goal and Goostrey was there to tap the rebound in. 

HC 8-0 (3rd, 15:18, EV): Junior Danielle Doherty scored off a rebound in the crease from Matzka.

HC 9-0 (3rd, 19:11, EV): Sophomore Victoria Young finished off the scoring for the Crusaders with a shot from blueline that deflected off the goalie and into net.


Eight different Crusaders scored against the Purple Knights. 

Doherty leads Holy Cross with three goals and three assists on the season (3-3-6).

Freshman Julia Pelletier only had to make five saves and improves to 3-0-1. 

The Crusaders went 0-1 on the power play. 

The team had 64 shots on goal, a new season high.


The Crusaders will remain in South Burlington to face the Purple Knights again Nov. 4 at 1 p.m.
