Women's Lacrosse Announces 2018 Schedule
WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross head women’s lacrosse coach Amanda Belichick and director of athletics Nathan Pine have announced the Crusaders’ schedule for the 2018 season. Holy Cross will play 17 regular season games and will host nine games at Kuzniewski Field. The team will play two teams that made deep runs in the 2017 NCAA Tournament, Boston College and Navy.
“I look forward to seeing our team continue to build off of our momentum from the fall,” said Belichick. “I am excited to have a strong and competitive schedule out of conference to prepare us for a solid Patriot League schedule.”
Holy Cross will open the season with a two-game road stretch, when it travels to Fairfield on Feb. 10 and #12 Boston College on Feb. 13. The Eagles made it to the national championship game in 2017, where they fell to Maryland.
The Crusaders will open Kuzniewski Field on Feb. 21, when they host Brown. On Feb. 24, the team will hit the road to play Iona before returning home on Feb. 26 to host Villanova. Holy Cross will travel to DeLand, Fla. to play Stetson on March 4.
The team will play a three-game home stand, hosting Vermont (March 7), Richmond (March 13), and Patriot League opponent Lafayette (March 17). The Crusaders will continue Patriot League play at Colgate on March 24.
Holy Cross will then host a pair of home games against the service academies, with Army on March 28 followed by Navy on March 31. The Midshipmen made it to the Final Four in the 2017 NCAA Tournament, before they fell to Boston College.
The Crusaders will open the month of April at Bucknell (April 7) and then host Lehigh (April 14). Holy Cross will then travel to Boston University on April 18 for a Turnpike Trophy game. The Crusaders will host American on April 21 for their final home game of the season and then travel to Baltimore, Md. to play Loyola in their final regular season game of the season on April 28.
The Patriot League Tournament will feature a six-team field with a pair of quarterfinal games to be played at the higher-seeded team. The sixth-seeded team will play at the third-seed and the fifth-seed will play at the fourth-seed. The winners will advance to play the top two seeds in the semifinal and championship rounds, to be played at the site of the highest overall seed in the tournament.
