WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men’s and women’s cross country teams will head to Amherst, New York, to compete in the NCAA Northeast Regional on November 9, hosted by the University at Buffalo. The women’s six-kilometer race will begin at 11 a.m., followed by the men’s 10-kilometer race at 12 p.m.
The Crusaders last competed at the Patriot League Championship, finishing in seventh place on both the men’s and women’s sides. Junior Jenna Gasparrini led the women with a second-place finish, posting a time of 21:50.9 on the six-kilometer course; she was followed by junior Allison McArdle, who placed 42nd, and freshman Michaela Halloran, who placed 66th. For the men, freshman Joseph Leland led the way at 18th place, clocking in at 26:36.1 on the eight-kilometer course, followed by senior Joseph Prunty, who placed 52nd (27:30.2) and junior Bobby Tuzzio, who was 61st (27:44.3).
A year ago, the women placed 21st out of 36 teams at the 2017 Northeast Regional, with Gasparrini placing 76th out of 251 runners in a time of 23:16.3. Prunty was the top finisher for the men in 2017, finishing in 156th place in a time of 34:55.3.
