WORCESTER, Mass. - The Crusaders open 2018 with a home-and-home series with American International. The Crusaders will play at the MassMutual Center on Jan. 5 and at the Hart Center on Jan. 6. Puck drop is at 7:05 p.m. for both games.

Talking Points
• The Crusaders scored nine goals in a weekend for the second time this season. Their last nine goal weekend was Oct. 20-21 against Bentley.
• Fourteen different Crusaders posted at least one point in the weekend series with Sacred Heart.
• Scott Pooley continues to lead the team (16-8-24) after a six point weekend.
• Michael Laffin also posted a career weekend, with five points (4-1-5) to earn Atlantic Hockey Player of the Week.
• The Crusaders sit in second place in Atlantic Hockey, only two points behind Canisius. Holy Cross has dropped the least amount of games, only falling twice in league play.
• Pooley’s 16 goals ranks first nationally and the senior forward is tied for fourth in goals per game nationally (0.80).
• The Crusaders hold a 14.1% conversion rate on the power play and are one of only 17 teams to have not allowed a short handed goal against.
• Paul Berrafato holds the top save percentage in the league at .922.
• The Crusaders own the second lowest goals against average in Atlantic Hockey (2.725).
• The team has also scored the second most goals in the league, with 62.
• The Crusaders boast a 4-1-5 record at the Hart Center; Holy Cross owns an unbeaten record at home in league play at 3-0-4.

Pooley’s Offense
• Nationally, Scott Pooley ranks fourth in goals/per game (0.80). Pooley’s 16 goals is the most goals scored in the nation.
• On the power play, Pooley has recorded six goals, which ranks him tied for fourth nationally.
• In Atlantic Hockey, the senior forward leads the league in scoring and power play goals.
• Pooley is tied for 25th overall nationally in points.
• The senior forward leads the Crusaders in points (16-8-24).

Berrafato in Goal
• Paul Berrafato’s .922 save percentage leads Atlantic Hockey while his 2.49 goals against average ranks second.
• His 606 saves marks the most made by any goalie in the league.
• Berrafato has posted shutouts over Bentley, Air Force, and Army.
• With nine career shutouts, Paul Berrafato captured the all-time shutouts record at Holy Cross. Matt Ginn (2011-15) previously held the record with eight shutouts.
• In his career, Berrafato has played 98 games and 86 consecutive starts. Of the active goaltenders in the NCAA, Berrafato ranks second with the most consecutive starts.
• The senior netminder also ranks in the top four goaltenders for the biggest save percentage improvement since the 2016-17 season (+.30) as of Nov. 30.

• The forward line was responsible for five of the Crusaders nine goals last weekend.
• Michael Laffin scored four goals and Scott Pooley assisted on each.
• Logan Ferguson added back-to-back assists on two of Laffin’s goals on Dec. 30.

Defensive Production
• Johnny Coughlin leads the Crusader defense with 11 points from two goals and nine assists. Coughlin also leads the team in blocked shots (37).
• Spencer Trapp has recorded nine points and 24 blocks.
• Charlie Barrow, Tommy Muratore, Frank Boie, and Logan Milliken have each contributed with at least three helpers and double digit blocks.

Lopez Leads
• The senior forward has recorded seven points in his last 10 games (5-2-7).
• Lopez has recorded two points on the power play with one goal and one assist.

Scouting The Yellow Jackets
• The Yellow Jackets host the Crusaders with a 6-12-2 overall record and 5-8-2 mark in conference play.
• American International averages 2.50 goals and 3.25 goals against per game.
• On the power play, the Yellow Jackets hold a 14.9% conversion rate and a 77.4% success rate on the penalty kill.
• Since returning from the break, AIC has only played one game at Northeastern on Dec. 30, where they fell 3-1.
• At home, the Yellow Jackets are 4-5-1 and 1-3-1 away in conference.

Yellow Jackets to Watch
• Freshman Brennan Kapcheck leads the team with 16 points in 11 games. Kapchek has five goals and 11 assists.
• Sophomores Janis Jaks and Blake Christensen have each recorded a team high six goals.
• Christensen also leads in power play goals, with three.
• Three goalies have seen time for AIC but Stefan Durante leads, playing in 12 games with a .908 save percentage and 2.26 goals against average.
