WORCESTER, Mass. – Due to the threat of severe weather, the Holy Cross and Navy women’s soccer game originally scheduled for Saturday, has been moved to Thursday at 1:00 p.m. The change was agreed upon by both teams in order to improve the quality of the match and safety for all involved, as well as ease travel logistics for the Crusaders. There will be no video coverage of the match, but livestats can be found at NavySports.com.

The match will be both sides’ first Patriot League game of the season. Head coach Casey Brown and the Crusaders are looking forward to getting conference play started.

“We are very excited to open Patriot League play,” Brown said. “This is an opportunity for us to continue to take steps in the areas we have been focusing on in training. There is also excitement for a new start on the next chapter of our season where we will learn from the past stretch of games, but have our eyes very much focused on the conference task ahead. We know Navy is always a tough opponent, but it’s a matchup we’re looking forward to.”

Things to know about Holy Cross (2-5):

  • With senior Carly Flahive’s goal in the team’s most recent game, a 2-1 overtime loss to Brown, she has increased her career-high season goal total to three and has taken the team lead in points with six.
  • The Crusaders will look to get conference play off on the right foot as they look to increase their conference win totals from previous seasons. They have won two Patriot League games each of the past six seasons and have not won more than that since 2002.
  • In their most recent three games against Navy, the Crusaders have registered a loss (2017) and two ties (2015 and 2016).
  • Freshman forward Caroline Harkins is showing promising signs off the bench for the Crusaders. She has played in all seven games and is tied for third on the team in both shots (9) and shots on goal (4). She is yet to break through for that first collegiate goal, but she does have an assist on the year.

Things to know about Navy (2-3-3):

  • Navy finished last season at 16-4-1 and 8-0-1 in the conference. They made it to the Patriot League finals, but were knocked out by Bucknell, 3-2.
  • So far this season they have been led by Baseley McClaskey’s nine points from four goals and one assist. No other member of the team has scored more than once.
  • Sydney Fortson has played every minute of the season in goal for Navy, while accumulating a 1.09 goals against average and a .710 save percentage.
