Zoe Matherne Named C&R Tire Crusader Of The Week

WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior Zoe Matherne has been named the C&R Tire Crusader of the Week, for competition from May 7-13. Matherne led the Holy Cross women’s outdoor track and field team to a 33rd-place finish at the ECAC Championship last weekend.

During Saturday’s competition in Princeton, N.J., Matherne placed second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:06.91. She broke her own school record in the 800 meters for the second time this season and currently ranks 35th in the NCAA East Region in the event.

Matherne is the all-time Holy Cross record holder in six different events: the outdoor 400-meter run (57.22), the indoor 800-meter run (2:08.07), the outdoor 800-meter run (2:06.91), the indoor 1,000-meter run (2:45.95), the outdoor 1,500-meter run (4:25:78) and the indoor one-mile run (4:47.18).

Matherne will return to action when she competes in the 800-meter run at the 2018 NCAA East Preliminary Round, which will take place on May 24 and 25 in Tampa, Fla.
