Softball Defeats CCSU in Extra Innings, 2-0

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - The Holy Cross softball team defeated the Central Connecticut State University Blue Devils, 2-0, in nine innings. Junior Taylor Wahler and freshman Bella Jankowski recorded the RBIs to give Holy Cross the lead in the ninth inning. Senior Katy Watson got the win and recorded seven strikeouts on the day.

Seventh inning:

  •  With the score tied, 0-0, the Crusaders made a double play to send the game into extra innings.
  • Junior Taylor Wahler caugh a grounded ball at short stop and threw to senior Taylor Moss at first to get the first out. Moss found senior Mandy McCarthy on third to get the second out on a Central Connecticut runner. 

Ninth Inning:

  • Junior Jackie Brewster hit a double to center field and then advanced to third on the throw. 
  • Wahler hit a single to center field and recorded an RBI to send Brewster home. 
  • Jankowski also hit a single and recorded an RBI to send Wahler home and extended the Crusaders' lead to 2-0.
