FIVE THINGS TO KNOW

  • The Holy Cross baseball team begins its journey to defend its 2017 Patriot League Championship as the Crusaders get set to take on #24 Houston for three games this weekend.
  • Last season, Holy Cross won its first-ever Patriot League title and advanced to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1978. The Crusaders competed in the Corvallis, Ore. regional at Oregon State, and earned a 7-4 victory over #25 Nebraska in their second game.
  • Holy Cross was voted third in this year’s Patriot League Preseason Poll, as voted on by the conferences head coaches and media relations directors. Sophomore Austin Masel, junior Danny Barlok and senior Thomas Russo were also named Preseason All-Patriot League.
  • The Crusaders welcome a freshman class of 15 student-athletes, and return 18 from last year’s roster.
  • Houston enters the season ranked #24 in the D1Baseball.com poll, and are coming off a 42-21 season where they won the AAC Championship and hosted an NCAA Regional.
