The Holy Cross men’s basketball team will be back on the road this week, heading to UMass for a 7:00 p.m. game on Tuesday, Dec. 4. The contest between the Crusaders and the Minutemen will be televised live by NESNplus and Eleven Sports, and can be heard on WEEI 1440 AM in Worcester.

Holy Cross is off to a 5-3 start this season and has won four of its last five games. The Crusaders are coming off a 67-49 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday. Holy Cross currently leads the Patriot League in assists (17.6 assists per game), blocked shots (4.1 blocks per game), turnover margin (+4.0 turnovers per game) and assist-turnover ratio (1.7-to-1).

Sophomore guard Jacob Grandison has led the team by averaging 16.1 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. Sophomore guard Austin Butler has added 12.3 points and 5.1 boards per contest, while hitting 40.7 percent of his three-pointers. Four other Crusaders are averaging at least seven points, led by sophomore guard Caleb Green (10.0 points per game).

UMass stands 5-3 so far this year, and has won three of its last four games. The Minutemen are coming off a 69-62 victory over Quinnipiac last Wednesday night. Junior guard Luwane Pipkins has led the team by averaging 19.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game, while hitting 41.3 percent of his three-point field goal attempts. Sophomore guard Carl Pierre (11.3 points per game), junior guard Curtis Cobb (10.9 points per game) and junior forward Jonathan Laurent (10.6 points per game) are also scoring in double figures. UMass is led by head coach Matt McCall, who stands 18-23 in two seasons with the Minutemen.

After the contest at UMass, the Crusaders will play host to Rhode Island at the DCU Center on Saturday, Dec. 8, at 1:05 p.m.
