EASTON, Mass. – The Holy Cross softball team swept through nonconference foe Stonehill 8-0 in five innings and 10-6 Wednesday afternoon at Fr. William Gartland, C.S.C. Field.
The victories snapped the Crusaders eight game slide and moved them to 7-19 while the host Skyhawks fell to 1-22 with the defeats.
In game one, junior
Megan Yurchick tossed a gem allowing only one hit notching her fifth complete game and fourth shutout of the season. Sophomore
Callie Thibault and senior
Peyton Morehouse belted back-to-back home runs on consecutive pitches in the top of the fifth. It was the first collegiate home runs for both athletes.
During game two, Yurchick picked up another victory tossing 3.0 innings scoreless innings in relief. Freshman
Anna Brait was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and two RBI while sophomore catcher
Emma Fong was 1-for-2 with a home run, two runs scored and a walk.

GAME ONE: CRUSADERS 8, SKYHAWKS 0 (FINAL – 5 INN.):

- Molly Adamo: 2.0 innings pitched, two runs, two strikeouts, two hits allowed.
STEPPING TO THE PLATE:
- Senior Peyton Morehouse: 3-for-3, home run, RBI, two runs scored.
- Freshman Ali Sniegocki: 2-for-3, two RBI.
- Freshman Anna Brait: 1-for-2, double, two RBI, walk.
- Junior Jessica Mott: 1-for-3, three runs scored, walk.
- Sophomore Callie Thibault: 1-for-1, home run, RBI, run scored.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- A walk, a fielder's choice and an infield single loaded the bases for the Crusaders in the top of the first. Yurchick grounded out to bring the first run home for the 1-0 lead.
- In the second, Holy Cross packed the bases with two outs. Brait drew a full count free pass to increase the margin to 2-0. The next batter, Sniegocki bashed a first pitch single up the middle to plate two runs to make it 4-0 in the second.
- Senior Bailey Bates singled to plate Mott and Brait added an insurance RBI double to increase the lead to 6-0 after the top of the fourth.
- Thibault and Morehouse went back-to-back on consecutive pitches in the fifth to add on to the edge at 8-0.

GAME TWO: CRUSADERS 10, SKYHAWKS 6 (FINAL):

- Freshman Sophia Roncone: 3.0 innings pitched, four earned runs, four hits allowed, three strikeouts.
- Kelly Mayette: L, (0-5), 3.1 innings pitched six runs – two earned, four walks, three strikeouts.
IN RELIEF:
- Senior Audrey Gusel: 1.0 innings pitched one earned run, two hits allowed, one walk.
- Megan Yurchick: W, (6-9), 3.0 innings pitched, one walk, three strikeouts.
- Lauren Donovan: 0.0 innings pitched, three runs – two earned, three hits allowed.
- Skylar Brandemarte: 3.2 innings pitched, three hits allowed, one earned runs, two strikeouts.
STEPPING TO THE PLATE:
- Anna Brait: 2-for-4, double, two RBI, two runs scored.
- Ali Sniegocki: 2-for-4, double, two RBI.
- Bailey Bates: 1-for-4, RBI, two runs scored, two stolen bases.
- Emma Fong: 1-for-2, home run, RBI, two runs scored, walk.
- Peyton Morehouse: 1-for-4, two RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Morehouse continued her hot hitting slapping an opposite field RBI single to push the Crusaders ahead 2-0 in the top of the first.
- In the top of the second, Fong belted the first pitch she saw for her first collegiate home run to up the margin to 3-0.
- Stonehill tied the game, 3-3 in the bottom of the third when Isabella Therrien tripled to unload the bases. A single to left gave Stonehill the 4-3 edge.
- The Crusaders remained patient at the plate and loaded the bases all via walks in the top of the fourth with one away. A fielder's choice error put the Crusaders back ahead, Brait and Sniegocki had insurance doubles to up the score to 9-4.
- Stonehill got two runs back in the home half of the fifth when Conte singled through the left side plating two runs.
- Sniegocki singled to right and got herself in a rundown which allowed Brait to score.
DUE UP:
- Holy Cross will host Boston University in Patriot League and Turnpike Trophy action on Saturday, April 1.
- First pitch is slated for 12 and 2 p.m.
